Overview

The Audit Platform Redesign was a comprehensive project aimed at modernizing an outdated interface, aligning it with the company's product ecosystem, and improving market competitiveness. As the designer, I led the effort to audit the product, design a cohesive and modern interface, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful changes. This case study outlines the challenges, approach, and impact of the redesign, as well as lessons learned along the way.

PROBLEM SPACE

The interface was outdated, making it seem out of sync with the platform’s functionality which was primarily automation-driven and is also considered a market leader. Maintaining the frontend required significant effort making it technical inefficiency, slowing the development of new features. There was a perception of neglect due to the dated UI even though functionality improvements have been greatly increased. Competitive pressure from competitors offering visually more polished solutions, raising client expectations. A dated front-end made it harder to sell the product to prospects.

APPROACH &
PROCESS

APPROACH & PROCESS

Stakeholder Alignment & Planning:

Partnered with the CTO and executive team to define goals and secure buy-in. Presented a phased approach to deliver incremental updates that balanced impact and feasibility. Divided the project into six phases to address high-priority areas first while maintaining momentum with smaller wins.

Discovery & Design Process:

Conducted a product audit of existing screens and workflows to identify gaps and inconsistencies. Redesigned the platform and leveraged the company’s Figma-based design system and component library for faster implementation in the future. Explored variations to test how far the redesign could be pushed while remaining technically feasible. Conducted usability testing with beta users to validate that the redesign was intuitive, familiar, and visually appealing. High-fidelity design and documentation to streamline developer handoff. Collaborated closely with developers to ensure designs were implemented correctly and aligned with the project vision.

RESULTS

Rapidly delivered phase 1 within a month, enabling beta users to provide actionable feedback early in the redesign process. This confirmed the assumption that a new front-end would lead to efficiencies gained in throughput. Consolidated core components which reduced redundant components, and technical complexity and improved maintainability for developers. Throughout phase 1 we worked with a few major brokerages to gather feedback on the redesign and a new product offering. This collaboration built trust and contributed to 2 major account upgrades, increasing $81,000 ARR. A Unified the platform’s visual identity with the rest of the product suite, creating a professional and trustworthy user experience. Sales Enablement: Improved the platform’s market positioning, making it easier to pitch to prospective clients and secure future sales.
