Triumph · Platform redesign

Modernising a legacy core

Modernized a legacy product through a full interface redesign, aligning it with the company's ecosystem and improving competitiveness, resulting in ~335 days of efficiency gains and $81K in incremental ARR.

Platform redesign

This project modernized a mission-critical freight audit platform that was strong in automation but visually outdated. While the product led the market functionally, its interface lagged behind customer expectations and competitors. I led the redesign end to end, aligning the experience with the broader ecosystem while preserving speed and reliability for expert operational users.

Challenge

The UI created a mismatch between perception and reality. Despite meaningful automation gains, the product felt neglected and less competitive. Two front-end frameworks introduced inconsistency, slowed development, and increased maintenance costs. As more polished competitors entered the market, this gap began to create risk across sales, retention, and customer confidence.

Product surface audit

Approach

I structured the redesign to balance speed, impact, and risk. I audited and mapped the full product surface to identify high-leverage opportunities, then focused on modernizing core workflows using the existing design system to enable fast, scalable delivery. Familiarity was treated as a constraint: as a daily workflow tool, the experience needed to improve clarity and density without disrupting expert users. I partnered closely with product and engineering, tested designs with beta customers across brokerages, and delivered clear documentation to support a tight implementation.

Product impact

The redesign prioritized layout efficiency and visual hierarchy over surface polish. Reducing fixed UI chrome allowed users to see and act on more information with less scanning.

335
days in efficiency gain

Visible content on the Auditing screen increased by 48%, saving an estimated three seconds per view across 8.58 million annual page views.

82.8
hours saved

On the Assign Loads screen, reduced fixed components saved about two seconds per interaction, totalling roughly 82.8 hours annually.

Business impact

$81,000
ARR gain

Phase one shipped in under a month, validating that a modernized front end improved usability and confidence. Simplifying the UI reduced front-end complexity and long-term maintenance costs. The redesigned experience supported two major customer upgrades, contributing $81K in additional ARR, and strengthened sales positioning for future growth.
